Thanks to Brexit and the plunging pound, Unilever are upping their prices and Tesco do not want to take the hit

You were basically told this may happen by professionals, if you believed them, would you have voted remain?

Well there'd be little point bringing in more rose-tinted glasses, looks like people already have more pairs than they need

I mean, both sources referenced that Brexit had a direct responsibility. Have you read either of the articles or are you just presuming that this is an extension of 'project fear' because you're too comfortable in your safe space bubble right now?

Lol its like a market trader telling a punter that his coffee he was selling for Ł1.50 is now Ł1.60 "coz of da brexit, innit"

Everyone trying to pull a fast one

Tesco etc are at constant negotiations with suppliers and both use every trick in the book to get prices up/down

Never. Freedom is more important than marmite!

What will probably happen is they will prices up and then when everything is Tickety boo again they won't put them down. Note: Sneaky excuse to slip prices up. "After all those consumers didn't make a fuss when we made a packet of crisps into a bag of air did they?"

Good for Tesco.
It probably helps that the big boss used to be the big boss at unilever, he knows all their tricks.
Here for sales of Ariel to shoot through the roof.

its 2 things really. Prices have gone up if ingredients need to be purchased from overseas because of the falling pound. However, companies are also using it as an excuse to hike prices thinking they can get away with it now, so the reality is probably that they need to go up, but not by as much as they say.

All the other supermarkets have to deal with the same suppliers, so it will come to them too. They all need to sort it out, but you can be sure it will be the consumer that will pay eventually.

Unilever claim they have to put prices up because the pound has slumped making it more expensive to import yet most of these products are made in the UK using homegrown ingredients. Tesco realise that and have called their bluff.

Unilever like many multinationals hedge money/profit to guard against currency fluctuations for 12 months in advance and more and the MD of Tesco knows this. Its a pathetic attempt by Unilever (profits 2 billion last count) to use brexit as a negotiating tool. I hope people boycott their goods for as long as possible

I can report that Marmite was out-of-stock today in my local Co-op. Pot Noodles, on the other hand, were stacked up.
