I'm talking about Fleming's original books rather than what the producers said about their own screenplays. To me, Craig is the closest to the Bond of the books who is quite a different animal to the Bond on screen. The only thing missing from the Daniel Craig films as far as I'm concerned is that they don't use the Bond incidental music enough... or, in fact, at all in Casino Royale.
