Default Scoop cautioned for using the 'n' word.

Quote:
Celebrity Big Brother summer 2015 bosses have “advised” Fatman Scoop over his use of the ‘n’ word following a measured discussion with James Hill about Hulk Hogan’s racism scandal.

Yesterday, some of the housemates were talking remarks made by the wrestler in his leaked sex tape, when Scoop offered his thoughts on the highly offensive term.

“I’m black, I’ll say it. N****r isn’t a race, it’s a mentality,” he said. “I know n****rs of every nationality, it’s a mentality, the way you act, the way you behave, the way you carry yourself. It’s not a race.”

As Sherrie Hewson and Stevi Ritchie looked on awkwardly, James asked the rapper for his thoughts on the ‘n’ word in music. “I don’t for one minute agree with white people calling black people that, but how come it’s alright that black people can call black people that in music, then as soon as a white man calls a black man it, there’s such a massive thing?” he wondered.

“This is my personal opinion, music has made it acceptable to say the world n***r in everything,” Scoop claimed. “If you put it in popular music, you cannot turn around and say, ‘hold up, don’t say it’.

“But let’s get deeper, there are different classes of n****r. It’s like, ‘yo n***a, what’s going on man, you good, you cool, you’re my n***a. Then there’s n***r, which is like, ‘you’re a ****ing n****r’, really really racist. It’s how you say it to me, the voice, the inflection, everything.”

“Young people who listen to this music think it’s acceptable as you promote it,” observed James.

“That’s why you can’t argue with it,” agreed Scoop. “It’s become a term of endearment to most people. We’ve made it in to a positive word, but it’s all in the way you put it across.”

Despite the considered nature of the conversation, Scoop was called to the Diary Room today to be reminded of the Big Brother rules – although he wasn’t issued with an official warning.

“While Big Brother completely understands the context of the conversation you were having, that word and term will be seen as offensive to many of Big Brother’s viewers, so Big Brother is advising you to refrain from using that word,” said the all-seeing eye.

“I understand exactly what you’re saying,” accepted Scoop. “To me it’s not offensive, depending on the person. I do understand this is a situation where you have viewers and stuff like that, but as a black man I felt like I was in a unique position to explain to people what it is.”
