Of course there is. If she's just having a normal conversation about her son liking football rather than blubbing like an idiot about missing him they're not going to include that.

Why not, we have had all sorts of conversations about family and loved ones, why doesn't she contribute because she hasn't.

Throw up all sorts of tenuous reasons, such as funerals and such, it doesn't turn her into anything more than a very bitchy smirky cold woman.
