I would rationalise it by thinking that someone who has stashed near on £1000 and forgotten its there has either got money to burn or its been stashed for a dodgy reason
 Also, if you bought something from a charity shop for £3.50 and then went and had it valued and it was worth £1000 as it was really rare, would you give the difference back? I wouldn't....I'd be laughing all the way to the airport
