Things you didn't know that seemed so obvious once you found out..
Inspired by my discovery last night.
After making steak I was doing the dishes as you do. The pan was all charcoally and weird, as it usually is. So. I reached for the pack of brillopads my mother got me when I got this place. I was not concentrating and was kind of doing this on autopilot and managed to clean the pan without taking any of the nonestick stuff off it. And with no effort either. And was baffled.
Turns out, I have been scrubbing like hell, as if using sandpaper thinking this would make it work better, when all it does is make it harder to clean and breaks your pans. I have been getting through so so many frying pans because of this issue and just kind of convinced myself that brillopads were crap but dishcloths are no good and also get killed by pans.
So yeah. Light touch with brillopads is what you are meant to do it seems. I cannot understand how I thought it was normal to have a thing that 'helps' you do the dishes but also destroys the dishes, and never questioned this and why anyone would buy such an item if it destroys everything it touches?!
TLDR; I learnt how to correctly use a brillopad. And feel a pleb.
