I wonder if you just outright want me to say that you wouldn't find it acceptable if the civilians were white Judeo-Christians. I thought the analogy was more subtle but you're right it's clumsy. You don't care because they're Muslims.

[edit]Actually on even brief further consideration there's nothing wrong with the first analogy - the fact that they're not the same in practical or political terms has absolutely zero bearing on the moral hyporthetical being asked - is it morally justified to endanger/kill thousands of innocent civilians if it's a trade-off for removing dangerous individuals. If the answer to one is "yes" and the other is "no" then you're basing that assessment on "some other criteria" and not whether or not the act itself is morally abhorrent.

"But it's a waaar" is a lazy and meaningless deflection.
