…I understand that she finds it difficult to understand Richard and to understand the respect/affection that he’s held in by some…but she’s showing a real spite and intolerance of that, that seems to be engrossing her…

On the other side of that, with no Caroline in there Richard would not even have been noticed this season.
She has defined him.
Without her creating this rivalry I am confident that we all would be happily calling him dead wood. He is really only supported for the most part because Carol is so dislikeable.
