Heatworld's description of the house [+ info about Launch in the morning]
Quote:
When we walked into the Big Brother house today the first thing that struck us was just how beautiful it is. Seriously, we kid you not - and we have to say it's the first time we've ever described that place in such glowing terms. Pokey is the phrase that usually springs to mind. Pokey and suffocating and uncomfortable. But this year the place is full of soft colour and light and nice furnishings. We'd even move in ourselves if it wasn't a) in Elstree, b) full of cameras and c) about to be full of no-doubt crazy people!
For the first time in years the entrance and exit stairway is behind glass, so the housemates will be able to see people arriving and leaving as soon as the main door opens. The Diary Room, which is wallpapered in calming cloud-print, is tucked away behind the staircase away from the main house, so the housemates are free to bitch/nominate (same thing) in peace.
The bedroom can sleep a possible 14 housemates - albeit quite cosily - and the beds are all very comfortable with snazzy underlighting. There is also a walk-in closet area and hanging rail. The living area is dominated by a huge swirly-print pink sofa and the all-important plasma screen is up on the wall opposite. The whole area is carpeted and walls are papered with more swirls. Glass droplets containing tiny birds hang behind panels of glass and there are animals everywhere (printed, not real).
Moving across into the kitchen and dining area you're confronted by an odd kidney-shaped table with 12 places set and plates set underneath glass on the surface. There's small breakfast bar, storage room and doors leading out to the garden. The bathroom is located on the other side of the house close to the entrance and contains a large walk-in shower, circular bath and a strange pod-like area carpeted in fake grass with a large swing door across the front. The wallpaper in the bathroom includes drawings of past housemates getting up to naughtiness. We spotted a snogging Makosi and Orla and even Davina McCall herself giving someone an interview. There's also a camera in the toilet!
The garden is where the BB designers have really triumphed. Not only is there a luxurious whirlpool with acres of tiled sunbathing surround and outdoor shower, but there's also a wicker love nest where the housemates can lounge on the sofas for a late-night chat. It does have a door, so it could also be a good place to get some privacy...nudge nudge. In addition to all this there's a carousel area with its very own horses and striped canopy and the whole place is decorated with more birds and prints of other animals such as chickens, a bear and a tiger. The entrance to the Task Room is also out in the garden and we spotted a bathroom, meaning some unlucky housemates may well find themselves stuck in there overnight.
In the living area there was a vertical cylinder-shape space cut out from the wall where - according to BB boss Phil - "something" will be revealed on launch night. Altogether now: ooooooh!
The main thing about this house is all the light and the fact that you can see through all the rooms and areas into all the other rooms and areas. That means the housemates will be even more likely to get caught slagging each other off and/or snogging people they shouldn't. It's going to be EXTREMELY exciting come Wednesday - we actually can't wait!
Have a look through the gallery of snaps below and tell us what YOU think. Oh, and come back here tomorrow morning for some very exciting gossip about launch night...you do NOT want to miss it!
