Default Cheryl "booed at us X Factor auditions"

Cheryl 'booed at US X Factor auditions'

Wed May 11 01:03PM by Chloe Turgis

She may be trying her best to break into America, but it seems that Cheryl Cole still has some convincing to do to win over the US public.

The Girls Aloud star, who was confirmed as a judge on the American version of 'X Factor' last week, has reportedly been booed by the audience during the show’s auditions. And if that wasn't enough, she is also said to have angered some fans… because of the place where she was sat!

Things seemed to have got off to a good start, as fellow US ‘X Factor’ judge Paula Abdul complimented the 'lovely' Cheryl just after the first day of auditions. The 48-year-old US popstar tweeted: "Gotta tell you about Cheryl - 'The Fierce' is STRONG w/ this one! she's lovely!" We're not so sure if many people said the same about Cheryl’s new big hair and colourful outfit though...

Things apparently took a turn for the worse on day two of the auditions. The Daily Mirror reports that the audience booed Cheryl after she criticised a female act for their accent, commenting that she thought she was "singing in a foreign language", while Cole has herself a strong Geordie accent.

She reportedly got more boos for her comments about two other contestants – a rapper who wasn't 'real' enough for her and a 13-year-old boy who she gave a ‘no’ to.

However, Cheryl and her three fellow 'X Factor' judges are said to have been instructed to be tough for the show. An insider told the Mirror: “She’s got a job to do and she coped admirably. The booing wasn’t personal at her. All the panel got a rough ride. It’s part and parcel of her job to make difficult decisions that not everyone agrees with.”

But there's more for Cheryl to worry about. Whilst Paula sat next to Simon on the first day of auditions, she and Cheryl swapped seats on the second day and the two Brits were then sat next to each other – and seeing Paula separated from Simon has apparently angered some US fans.

According to The Sun, some members of the American public, all fans of Paula and Simon's on-screen chemistry, were disappointed to see the pair separated. According to the paper, one of them tweeted: "Paula is our sweet little angel! Why is Simon letting that big-haired girl take her seat?"

Maybe she'll make a better impression on day three though...
