He wasn't made out to be a 'paedophile'... HE was the only one to use that word.
The age used was 16, which does NOT mean he was being made out to be what you are getting all het up over.
Tom was just having a joke at an older guy chasing younger girls, like a 'dirty old man' mickey take. Nothing more.
By seizing hold of a word like 'paedophile' and getting all drama over it the joke has been twisted into fake outrage.
