Notice how all floods in the north and in scotland and wales all dissapate after a few days...whereas those in the south east take weeks maybe longer
the population of england is 53 million , wales just over 3 million and scotland 5.3 million but england is only 50,000 square miles, scotland 30,000 the population in england is over 1000 people per square mile and the 6th most populated per square mile in the world scotland is 175 people per square mile wales 370 per square mile then look at the south east of england and london over 5000 people per square mile is this really sustainable with our ancient infrastructure and higher tides? This is yet another example of why spreading the economic wealth and jobs and infrastructure around this small island is essential. the difference in the south east and wales is staggering...I went to live in north wales and its like landing on the the bright side of the moon. but the gap between the 2 is absurd the country needs to set in place a plan to country the population and economic disaprity as a matter of grave urgency. the south east is so build up and over populated now, not just with people with the sheer amount fo land thats built on tarmaced, heck most people dont even have gardens to absorb the rainfall....it probably doesnt hep that all the waterworks infrastructure is french owned....hopefully this latest disaster will be heeded, but I doubt it |
