Mid-week dilemma...
...you have discovered that a biochemist has created a very cheap chemical compound that, when ingested, will react with the levels of hormones in the human brain. Ingesting this compound would essentially eliminate any desire for conflict, and also increase the levels of compassion amongst the population. If ingested by the entire population of the world, it would in effect, instantly create world peace and eliminate most criminal activity. It would also make the population much more compassionate, and therefore also eliminate hunger and poverty. It would also however, remove any desire whatsoever for anything involving conflict or competition (athletic activities, competition etc and would effectively make a docile 'Stepford' population)....
... would you...
a) Introduce this compound into the world's water supplies, and guarantee world peace and an end to most human strife, knowing that the population would never willingly ingest it
or...
b) Do nothing. Free will is what makes us human, and removing that would be worse than anything we can do to ourselves without the compound....
..?..
