Man arrested after killing his girlfriend then posting a selfie of him with her dead body on social media
A man in Nanning, southern China, has been arrested after allegedly killing his girlfriend and then taking a selfie with her. The man, who has been named by his surname Qin, shared the photo of himself and his girlfriend, who has been named as Lin, on a local social network, reported People's Daily Online. He was apprehended on September 6 near the scene of the crime after police received reports of the photograph, which had been widely shared on Chinese websites. Police in Nanjing received reports of a woman who had been murdered early on September 6. When they arrived at the scene of the crime, the perpetrator had already fled. The exact details are not known but it is thought that Qin had taken a selfie of himself with his girlfriend, whose eyes were shut, after she had died. Qin later posted this photograph publicly on an unnamed Chinese social network site, which could be seen by those within his friendship group. It is thought that the pair had a lovers' tiff when Qin committed the crime. A caption, accompanying the photograph, read 'forgive me for my selfish love'. Reports of the crime and the morbid selfie became widely circulated, which led to the man's arrest just nine hours later. On Tuesday, photographs of the alleged crime scene were made public by Chinese media. They showed a small patch of brown earth in a secluded woodland. A sheet of tarpaulin laid on the floor while two umbrellas were scattered either side of it. Near one of the umbrellas was a handsaw. The case is currently still under investigation.
