It's official: ITV has confirmed it has picked up The Voice UK and The Voice Kids in a big new deal.
The channel has also ordered an ITV2 spinoff show, with everything kicking off in 2017. ITV - which beat off the BBC to win the series in a huge bidding war - confirmed today that it has picked up three series of the main show and two series of the children's version. But ITV's director of television Peter Fincham hinted that it might not necessarily be the end of The X Factor. "ITV is the natural home of big entertainment, so we are thrilled that The Voice and The Voice Kids are both joining our family alongside brilliant shows like The X Factor, Britain's Got Talent, Saturday Night Takeaway and I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here." And ITV's director of entertainment and comedy Elaine Bedell added: "From the compelling blind auditions, through to the nail-biting battle rounds, knockouts and live shows, The Voice has become a worldwide sensation and we are very much looking forward to its arrival on ITV in 2017." It is not yet clear which stars will appear as coaches on ITV's version of the show, as Ricky Wilson has already confirmed that he won't be taking part. The BBC still has one final series of The Voice UK to air, which will kick off in January 2016 with Wilson, will.i.am, Paloma Faith and Boy George in the spinning chairs. http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/the-voi...e-series-deal/
