It ends arguments in the same way as putting your hands over your ears and shouting 'la la la la la!'

Or hanging up on someone.

Or actually running away from them.

Sure the argument 'stops' when all these things happen as one side has chosen to retreat from the debate. But of course nothing has been 'won' by them. They've just simply given up talking.

Some kids in the playground might think that drowning out your opponent with loud tormenting songs or running away from them constitutes as 'winning the argument' but in the adult world well... that doesn't quite cut the mustard.

Imagine doing it in court! Or on the phone to your insurance company. Or during a debate on 'Question Time'.

I'd say whoever ended up singing it in an adult situation would be the one looking like a dick, not their opponent.
