See... this is what happens when people start peddling the idea that "free speech" means that you can say literally whatever you want without consequences.

Protection of free speech in legal terms doesn't mean that, if you work for a private company you can't be fired (which Rosanne essentially did, as her employment was reliant on her show being aired by a television channel owned by a private entity)
