No, why not ship the straights to a sub-forum instead and stop them plaguing the rest of the forum?

It's all up to admin... I just weighed in on topic like everyone else in this thread did. But the whole... always the same people posting during off season... and the same type of arguments in serious debate... are things people say for a reason. Someone requested this type of subforum and many agreeded with the idea. Most of the ones who didn't aren't in the LGBTQ community. You included Vicky.
Do you want a site that grows and progresses with the changing of time? Or one that dies with the knitting club. Maybe admin want the site to end rather than change. It's a choice they can make.

Being gay or straight or trans isnt though

It will happen to drag race forum if LGBT forum won't happen. Because such a space is needed. If it's not given people will huddle around a TV show subforum. But that will be out of necessity not choice

I agree w Vicky the forum subs needs culling. Too many subs and it makes the forum activity feel very disparate, with a dwindljng userbase.

I had the idea that the sub could give the forum added depth, also a place for sexuality/relationship-related conversations... but I think some of the forum has a very dirty mind.

Such a forum would surely be pretty lonely...the regular members are pretty much all gay/bi AFAIK

I don't think there is the same want to discuss heterosexual sex among straight people either...like there seems to be from gay members on here. Though yes, as mentioned earlier, the pegging thread

So basically this thread is...we want somewhere to post gay porn and discuss sexual acts in graphic detail, a drag race forum is basically the same as a LGBT forum, I want a forum where noone can disagree with my opinion, LT made a pegging thread, it would divide the forum further, and marsh being a cum guzzler. Brilliant.

But thats just not true at all. I am bisexual. Which has been known for a long time on here.

I also under current labels come under a-gender. As I have no sense of being female, I just am female, which means I have no gender identity, which is 'a-gender' which comes under trans. Check stonewall. Though I don't define myself by that, its what I am, if forced to pick from one of the many labels around today.

And I didn't say I disagreed with it. I said it would not be a place where any dissenting voices (to what, what is the universal accepted LGBT opinion on anything? There isn't one) were deleted or banned. Which it wouldn't be.

If I didn't think so highly of you I'd say you are trivialising the issue in order to dismiss it.
People were joking around. I'm sure you'd censor obscenities the same way as everywhere else so that argument doesn't wash

Again, I don't see any LGBT-related subject that cannot be discussed in SD or the Chat subforums.
As someone who happens to be under that category, I don't see any reason why discussing my personal issues would better be in an LGBT forum rather than in the private chat forum, where personal issues can be discussed. It's worth the same as the "straight" personal issues, whatever that is.
Someone didn't want to bake a cake of a gay couple? Fine (but not fine), let's discuss it in the SD forum because this is a serious thing to debate, which is basically the purpose of a forum. Some will agree, some will disagree, but that's how debates go and what the forum is for.
Opening a subfolder to eliminate criticism/disagreements/opinions will just put people in a bubble, a warm and cozy one, but nonetheless delusional.
And technically, most of the members just follow the "Last Posts" page and go posting in the threads they want, debates will happen about issues no matter in which subforum the thread is created - the arguments don't discriminate forums

I am not against the idea of this sub forum.

I said earlier in the thread that discussions of that nature need to go in the over 18s area (and away from the view of advertisers as theres been issues recently..and I thought we were pretty strict on whats allowed on the main forum to start with, seemingly, not enough) but I was summarizing how the thread has gone. Sorry for not being totally serious all of the time. I don't want to dismiss anything, except for the idea that a LGBT forum would be an area where noone was allowed to disagree on anything posted there, or express an opinion that differed from the OP. Which the forum would not be. If thats whats wanted, as I said, a social group would be better, invite only, and kick out anyone who dared disagree on a topic

as I said earlier, I see it as an internet version of a gay pub, so no censoring opinions, simply creating our own space where lgbt is the norm and straights are welcome but respectful guests, same principles as any gay venue has

respect should be mutual, not just given to one section of TiBB

Well quite. This is what it would be too. Not somewhere where voices are silenced, and definitely not one where LGBT voices are silenced by people who are not LGBT.

So being on some rainbow spectrum is great and special and you get persecuted all the time on the forum but being older than average is some horrible dying thing?

how fkg rude can you get?

Its people from the knitting club that post and make threads and keep the forum active

I wasn't suggesting a club or something like a safe space, but rather a topic area. I think that "dissenting" debates of politic variety belong in SD. However, I think ppl should be able to discuss their views without fear of an uprising simply for disagreeing, but who knows how that would really actually work. Anyway, there would be ample voices I think for those discussions than just for or against type arguments... those get old and predictable, like SD has started to become actually. (imho)

Love, Relationships & LGBT... I think something broad would keep it from focusing solely on for/against style threads. The forum would benefit from the added warmth I think... yeah..,

See I view this comment as already creating an attitude of divide on the forum which just isnt good for the forum overall, so a subforum would no doubt largely add to this.

I stand by my previous suggestion that any personal or advice type threads are posted in the private area and the over 18s group is used for any sexual advice or discussion within reason of course.

The whole premise of a forum is to invite debate and discussion not to create areas where some people are not allowed to do that or are made to feel unwelcome.

Its a no from me.
