I know heels complement some outfits pretty well, but how are they even a thing?

I've never worn them, but they look so uncomfortable.

I can take or leave Joe Rogan, but years ago i'd listen to his podcast religiously, and he was saying he thinks people will look back in 100 years time and ask what were we thinking when it comes to high heels.
