I saw an interview with him and I think he did a lot of work for it, specific training and diet to get that shape to look like a Martial artist. He was in a film where he was a boxer, Southpaw a few years back and he was in great shape for that too but he looked like a boxer rather than an MMA fighter, so there's obviously differences for the type of physique he was going for

He's a great actor as well and really quite method in his approach.

Don't think I've seen that. But he's one of my favorite actors. He's so good.
