Tbf, some people do feel like that they sense someone close to them is still with them spiritually when the person has not long passed away.
I will give her the benefit of the doubt for now.

Like I remember for about the first three months after my Mom's passing, I thought that I could see her by the Wardrobe in my bedroom at night. Your mind can definitely play tricks on you during the initial grieving process. So was Courtney Cox not close to Matthew Perry?

And maybe she feels guilty for not bothering, so her mind is creating a posthumous connection to compensate for the lack of a living one.

Exactly, she worked with him for years, she's allowed speak about him. Courtney Cox doesn't come across as an attention seeker to me

She worked closely with him on Friends for years,so I wouldn't say she's not close. Maybe after friends ended they didn't see eachother often, but I assume they remained friendly.

And whether he lost contact with his castmates or not , during friends they all seemed to get on really well. So of course she'll be missing him. Last edited by GoldHeart; 21-05-2024 at 10:53 AM. |

…Courteney does quantify and expand what she said by saying that she also ‘feels and talks’ to her, who I think are both no longer alive…I mean, they’re all people that she’s been close to in her life and looked to for guidance at certain points…she’s said that about Matthew Perry in the past, that he has also been a guidance in her life at times…I know that his life also had many struggles and in later times, but that’s not all he was…and Courteney worked very closely with him so she would have known many of his character complexities also…I think many of us who have lost people close who have had influence in our time knowing them …?….can relate to what she’s saying and in the context that she’s saying it etc…

…I do think that ‘visits from the grave’ is a Daily Star ‘sensationalised’ type headline that just diminishes and cheapens a sincere meaning of something…but that’s what tabloids often do…

I don't even think it's "not bothering" - they may once have been close but watching someone descend into addiction is painful and terrible, separating from it emotionally is often inevitable and when they're gone, yes, it comes with a TONNE of guilt. My mum descended into severe alcoholism when I was in my late teens, and was dead before I was 30 - so really at the specific age range where I was in no way cut out to deal with any of it, and focussed on my own life. I still went to visit her, but not very often. I still took her calls and talked to her, but I was never the one to call. When someone is gone and you have a few years of hindsight, it's hard not to feel guilty... or at least, regretful about "what ifs".
