Muslims have been attacked pretty much since 9/11. I know because I fell into that trap, too. My bigotry was based around atheism versus the dangers of religious fundamentalism, but I was still a bigot. Those attacks have ramped up significantly over the last decade as the lead up to brexit, and the reemergence of the farage far right.
If I was in those communities, I'd probably be a little more worried about survival than PR at the moment. Those Muslims out on the streets won't be the level-headed, community leaders, especially after what they've seen happening over the last few days, and maybe a good portion of them are also itching for a fight, but it would still be in response to something.
Have you not seen the peaceful Muslims providing food and drinks to police officers? Did you not see the Muslims outside the oldest most in the uk (Liverpool) on Sunday night, handing out burgers and drinks?
