Do you believe that you have a right over other human beings to decide what they can and can't have opinions on?

I understand you have to moderate over outright abuse (which I'm probably guilty of myself, but only when I've felt attacked by you)

But arguments get heated. Humans are passionate about their beliefs. That's what makes debates good and healthy. Humans learn from those interactions. Always have, always will. Censoring people's opinions, and punishing those people for them is just wrong.

Getting back to the original topic of this thread, it's such an odd complaint to have. That someone has debate style, well thought out posts in the the serious debates section. I think we could do with more of that type posting in this section actually. Sorry Redway

at this point it would be worth remembering the novels that Vicky has/had a habit of posting that well worth a read . The whole point about debate is that it can have many sides that need exploring and most things don't tend to be black and white

I've been on various forums since I was 12 years old, and Vicky has the prestigious title of having written the longest single forum post I've ever seen in 25+ years . I can't even remember what the topic was, I just remember the dazzling length of the post.

#1, it wasn't my choice of phrase .

I've also always maintained that if TiBB wants to enforce a proper debates section where people debate in good faith without the insults then I'd very much like to use that, and would absolutely stick to those rules.

It's never happened.

So I engage with what we have, at the level we have it, as we all do.
