Back when Big Brother first started the crowd reactions were usually positive for the evictees unless they had done something truely dispicable. The eviction night was a special one for the evictee and they would leave to cheers and fondly reminisce about their time in there.
In the past few years though pretty much every evictee is resoundly booed by the crowd outside. It's always said that 'it's just panto' but has this continual stream of booing harmed Big Brother and contributed to its decline? Celebs were certainly more wary about going on the show after the Shilpa debacle but even more may have been put off by the continual baying crowds. This applys to the regular contestants too. I mean who would really want to go on a show when you have a 99% chance of being booed? Would this not lead to less interesting or genuine housemates going in and instead only attract the more publicity hunting types who just want some fame even if it means being booed? Now the eviction nights must be terrifying for the evictee rather than being a special night that would celebrate their time in the house and with lower quality housemates I would think that it can only have contributed to lower viewing figures. I used to think that it was because the evictions are held on Fridays, so there is no school the next day but it seems to have been just as bad in mid-week evictions. Sometimes it seems that the crowd just hates everyone, which makes me wonder why they even turn up. So what do you think? Have the boo-happy crowd damaged the show or should it be a place that only masochists would want to go into? |

Whoever gets booed generally deserves to get booed. Its just that since BB5 they've been putting in people who are generally vile.

The booing crowds have nothing to do with Big Brother's decline. This years celebrity series and last years too arguably had the most famous line cast in the shows history and I don't see any evidence that the jealous, overweight housewives who line up for hours outside Elstree to boo have warded off would be contestants.

Not really.
To be honest for the CBB7 final, 4 of the 5 finalists got cheered. Vinnie got mixed. That is a much more cheers than previous series have gotten, eg. Only 2 of 5 finalists were cheered in CBB6, 2 out of the 5 were cheered in the BB9 final (Sara and Mikey) and 3 out of 6 of the BB8 finalists were cheered (Samanda, Liam and Brian) |

BBUK Is knowen for alot of things and booing is one of them, I love watching BB around the world and seeing how **** the other evictions are because they dont even allow Booing and its always cheering or else they have no crowd at all, and then it shows BBUK and we have flashing lights, a Stage a crowd full of people who love to Boo lol
So its great. I love the atmosphere and all week when someone like Nicole or Bea is up and you know they'll be going and then you just cant wait for the Boos ![]()

people complaining to ofcom has not helped it forces bigbrother to show less and less of the interesting bits and that will have a affect on viewing figures
