But it may be true that if your husband said such a thing in a joking manner it would be awkward, not match your family humour, delivered poorly. It simply would come across wrong.

but,
The truth is that Dave (and im no Dave fan) but he does have the sense of humour to say such things and it will be taken well by his family,
and,
inside the humour it is communicating what is a healthy sexuality inside his culture - the idea that sex is something saved for newlyweds at which time it becomes honourable and not something to be ashamed of.

Let me let you into a little secret .. (unrevealed in the first post) if my Husband said anything resembling Daves statement, I would have castrated him along with losing my respect for him!.. That should more than bolster your theory that I imagine I am in charge of the Universe!!
