He doesn't need to sing that high on all sings but it is his way of putting his own stamp on the song he is singing, much like Shayne Ward did in his year.
Matt has that natural ability to go into and hold the high ranges of his falsetto range and in these early rounds he has used it ti its best in order to demonstrate to the full his singing ability, the ranges he has and how it all adds to his overall performance.
