The point is that they're looking for a mainstream artist and Katie would be one of them, amongst others [whether they would be successful or not is irrelevant, they would still suit a mainstream market], and so thus wanting potential mainstream artists out of the competition pretty much goes against the entire point of the show...

In other words what you're saying is that you just watch the show for the 'talent', but then once the winner/other acts go into the mainstream music market you won't follow their progress because you don't care about mainstream artists? So I take it that applies to Matt as well?

The only potential mainstream artists this year are Cher, One Direction, Matt, Katie, Rebecca and possibly Aiden.

Yes but what you're missing is that most people find Katie extremely annoying so why do you thin k that she would be a successful artist???

I wouldn't say I would follow the winners progress as such no, I haven't really liked any of the winners so far. I have heard Ollys new song though which I do like and as for Matt depends on what kind of music he realises after

They find her 'extremely annoying' because of the crap they've lapped up in the tabloids. As I said, no one is giving her a fair chance...

And I never said 'successful', infact I specifically said whether they'd be succesful or not is irrelevant, they are still the only potential mainstream artists. Hypothetical success/failure doesn't come into it - they're the only potential mainstream artists and that's that.

Yes - and each week they don't judge her performance, they just stick with their preconceived idea of 'her' using the crap they've lapped up in the tabloids.

I think its very ignorant to assume the only reason people find her annoying is because they lap up everything that is said in rags. Some people make their own opinion on what they SEE. And she comes across as a bit of a spoilt bitch to be honest :/

That said, I can give or take her. Her voice is OK but nothing special really. And the song choices for her have been terrible. I think cheryl is focusing on cher more for some odd reason...and just throwing anything at the other girls.
