Bloody hell.. was just talking to one of the dads down at the school and one of his colleagues jus died from swine flu!! 48 years old and healthy.

really? cos there was a doctor on the local radio here this morning that said only people suffering from something else (obesity, diabetes etc) are in danger. We have had as many cases here as ye though and I don't think anyone has died from it this time round either

Yeah thats what we keep getting told, but that's two cases I've heard of now of perfectly healthy people dying from it! Yikes

And now bloody Patrick is telling the the vaccine doesn't actually work!

well, when it first came out i heard that the vaccine they were giving out wasn't even made for swine flu but that was probably just rumour

And he graduated from which medical school?

Well I had the jab in October because I'm apparently in one of most at risk groups as I'm asthmatic, as is one of my sons. But I do think all kids under 5 at least should have it.

I read somewhere today that they are on the brink of producing a vaccine which will give protection against ALL flu strains, but what's the point if it's not going to be available to everyone?

Yeah they did my son last year as he was under 5, but I don't really like just one of them being immunised and not the other one.. The docs surgery did say she could have it on the nhs if she was asthmatic (which she' snot)

But as you say, what is the point in spending the time and the money researching this sort of thing then devloping a vaccine if it's not actually widely available. it's just daft!
