I think Cheryl underestimated the respect Simon has built up for Paula Abdul in the 8 years they spent together on American Idol. Cheryl looks completely lost because Simon is sitting next to Paula and not her.
I am in no way a Cheryl hater, but Americans are fickle people and they need familiar faces. Aside from what we are reading ie "Cheryl is better than Nicole", Nicole was outstanding in Dancing With The Stars - the best ever contestant. She is known all over the States for the Pussycats, whereas Girls Aloud (sadly) never broke America. Nicole has a very compassionate side, and it feels more believable than when Cheryl cried on the program.
