If only the voters would grasp, since they hate this coalition Govt so much, the only way to effectively shift them out of power is to vote Labour.

Equally so to Labour voters or sympathisers, if they vote UKIP for whatever reason, then they too risk a return of the Conservatives or even worse a Conservative/UKIP coalition.
A combination so disastrous,in my view, that would make this present coalition look like a bunch of teddy bears in comparison
.
Totally! I really hope that message comes across loud and clear in the run up to the election.

There will be a few factors in this by election and sadly none good for politics.

Some Labour voters astonishingly will vote for UKIP to help make sure the seat is not a Conservative win.
Clearly the Conservatives will also lose votes and therefore UKIP will unfortunately take the seat.

It is what now happens after this by electionthat troubles me and it is a simple fact, if the Conservatives lose this seat today, they really are in dire straits.
David Cameron has been there at least 5 times, this is a seat he should never have been in with a chance of losing.
If he loses it after all his hardline spouting off as to the EU too, then it will show he just isn't believed by the electorate at all.

This is the danger of making Europe a big issue at the forefront of politics,William Hague fought a campaign as leader in 2001 all about saving the pound.
Voters were just in the end switched off by it all.

I didn't see this as a seat Labour had any great hopes of winning, they did when it was Medway with Tony Blair as their leader in the landslide period for him.
So I expect to see Labour voters backing UKIP, which I think is dangerous but there you go.

It is a seat that,no matter what the media or David Cameron and his team say, should not be lost by the Conservatives.
If it goes to UKIP and I hope somehow it doesn't,who knows what can of worms gets opened after it.

Less than 6 months before the 2015 election, this by election was the last thing needed.

Yes many see this as a chance to have a attack.

I think Mark will win this
Farage will be most happy

Joey does not mean that

Labour know they will not win.
So its Conservative or UKIP to win.

So the Labour Voters , "some of them"
vote UKIP
to attack the Conservatives
Politics can get very nasty

Yes Josh as arista says I meant in this by election, I know of people who vote Labour and they will be voting for UKIP today just to try to ensure the Conservatives lose.
Although they say they are not likely to vote UKIP in the general election.

I am no way now a Conservative but I would really rather they won this seat than UKIP.
I really don't understand why Labour voters or even Lib Dems ones,(that is if the Lib Dems have any voters left),would risk presenting on a plate some great headlines and publicity for UKIP.

This seat did for me always look like a Conservative v UKIP battle after the defections but this is definitely a scenario where I would rather the devil I knew won than a party like UKIP.

I think I would rather the BNP won than UKIP at least they're upfront about their bigotry.

I am ecstatic over that, the only justifiable thing about this result for me.

For me, this is a bad night for politics overall, the media will be full of UKIP this, UKIP that, however the one light is,that I think this could go back to the Conservatives in the general election.
I felt he needed a larger majority than that to have a chance of holding the seat 6 months from now.

UKIP came from nowhere in this seat to actually win it however so this should lead to more discontent among Conservative MPs who have now seen 2 of their former colleagues hold their seats in by elections and one of them who was only elected in 2010 too.

I know of Labour voters voting UKIP to keep the Conservative out, however, (if anyone bothers to ask him),I am interested as to what Nick Clegg says is the reason for the Lib Dems now really looking like a minority party in all elections.

I am pleased to see UKIP have won the latest by-election and trounced the Tories,Labour and completely destroyed the Lib Dems.

Why can't people see that Old style Politics is out of touch with the voters of this Country. We vote these parties into power time and time again Cons-Lab-Cons-Lab...blah blah blah.... same old ..same old.

Nothing ever gets done we are treated like fools and shafted as these parties play Russian Roulette with our state assets.

They print money like it's going out of fashion, they borrow money like it's going out of fashion, they stop building houses (council or otherwise) and yet open the doors to vast levels of immigration....Millions upon millions of people from Europe and elsewhere.

They have collectively destroyed our Industry, our Education systems and our beloved Health service.......

I think people have finally had enough and are now not afraid to vote for a party that will offer real change.....

Personally I don't think UKIP could make a worse job of it , bearing in mind the other two clowns have shared power between them for nearly a 100 years and have succeeded in practically destroying this once proud, hard working Country.

What we have now is a nation of workshy, scrounging, obese, self medicating part time workers, all brow beaten by a greedy, disgusting, bunch of thieving elites who could not give XXXX about this country or it's culture as long as they get rich.

Disgusting all of it............UKIP gets my vote I mean why wouldn't you vote to give someone else a chance.

Can't get much worse....Can it ?

Yep - and just as Dr Stephen Ward was tragically made the scapegoat in that sordid little affair, there are plenty of scapegoats being lined up by both main parties when the General Election goes Pete Tong for them.

I still don't understand why people who want a shake-up of the political system (ie. get rid of the tories, lib dems and labour) don't vote for the Greens instead but I suppose the gobby racists are always going to get more press.
