They genuinely believe specific bad things about them and that's where the hatred comes from.

But when someone doesn't seem to have ANY cause - they just look at people with a certain skin colour and "feel ill at ease", with no specific reason, just instinctively and completely arbitrarily? That's sort of the epitome of racism, in many ways.
What is true racism....is it ignorance or fear or maybe both.

Perhaps it's a mixture of ignorance, fear and conditioning maybe by their parents who were also probably racist or cultural conditioning where black people are portrayed as rapists or violent gangsters.

Fact is people now as they become more educated less ignorant and we as a nation become more culturally diverse the effects are plain to see as the younger generations do not even understand how anyone could ever be prejudice against another person because their skin colour is slightly darker. I mean it's absolute madness if you think about it.

Older people are just displaying a mixture of all of those reasons and add to that snobbery as they somehow think they are more enlightened more intelligent than non white peoples.

Hopefully racism will continue to decline as we move forward and break down these ridiculous reasons for continuing the bigotry.
