Phones should be used in classes as they can be wonderful tools for learning. The only rules rearding phones that should be in place is that they should be on silent in lessons, you can't call or text anyone in class unless it's an emergency and phones shouldn't be present in exams. Anything else is pointless.

They allowed phones to be used in my daughters school as an experiment, it was found to be a no go when a group of year 8's were found looking at child pornography....in class!

It would be a mixed message schools can't be responsible for the loss/damage of expensive items brought to school which is why they are discouraged, if they were relied on as a resource and encouraged then parents/kids may well blame the school if something happened.
Learning how to function in an adult world also means learning to say no if it's appropriate, I think this is a good example. Over the years schools will have tried 101 approaches to the issue of mobile phones in schools, if this one works fair play.

You sound like you're running a death camp or something. Please answer the question why should someone nit be given the chance for an education because one time they texted a friends in class ONE TIME. They might if even been using it for a calculator or checking the time we dint know.
As a person Whi is still at school I can say that times have probably changed and there is in need to expel pupils for tiny unnescary things that has no affect of the education or life of anyone

Maybe people just aren't realising that it's 2015 and technology is always advancing and changing.
There was probably people having the same argument years ago about bringing computers into schools, now, you need to know how to use them for a lot of jobs,a nd they also brought a lot of new potential to students who are good with that kid. Of thing e.g computing subjects, and a fast and efficient way to learn

The point 'there is no more huge part of our lives' is a stretch ... If phones disappeared tomorrow I think most would have the capabilities to live and learn.

great idea, spend thousands possibly millions on council or goverment money to supply schools with tablets to learn, you know I can't think of anything like that that students all ready have that they could use to learn and that could say our councils and governments a lot of money, oh wait, PHONES

You can't use one example if people watching lorn in class and make out al of days kids are massive porn addicts, I'll use e fact that when I. Class neither me or the person I am sitting next to has ever watched lorn in class when we are allowed to use phones
