When I did that six months of hard labour I was already fit, healthy and strong but doing that sort of work day in, day out nearly broke me. I'm happy to accept that I can occasionally put my hand to that kind of thing but if I did it for a living, I'd not only suffer but I'd be holding the team back. Men genuinely worry about women as well. We had a team of men working on our project and they did worry about me doing certain things (especially with a nail gun!) even though I was capable. When it came to carrying anything heavy they'd down their tools and come and help me. They wouldn't of had to do that if I'd been a man.

The world has changed for women... but only in the last fifty years or so. I think if you look back to how women kept the country running during the world wars while the men were away fighting, it'll show you that women are more than capable of doing anything they turn their hand to. Sadly women had to give up those jobs after the wars because men returning wanted the jobs and the women's movement was put back decades.

Why do so few men go into the caring professions, nursing and school teaching? Schools could benefit a lot from strong male influences in school. And yet they don't... |

The opinions of people who would think a man working with children in automatically a paedo are not worth a wank I reckon. Some of the most inspirational teachers I remember were men. Shame, isn't it.

I've had terrible male teachers and terrible female teachers and brilliant male teachers and brilliant female teachers, in this case it's most certainly down to the individual, not which of the 25 genders they are

I remember Mr Reeve the boys' PE teacher. Sighhhh... Spend a few very happy lunchtimes watching him pole vault. And that's not a euphemism.
