My first comment was aimed at you saying that people aren't part of the Survivor community because their like/dislike for players changes on a season by season basis. That doesn't make them any less of the Survivor community imo.

It's different strokes for different folks, which is why I thought your comment was a bit far-fetched. Like you've explained; there is logic and theory behind editing, which is why some people find it interesting. There analysing the show they love, and they're not necessarily spoiling themselves by doing so. I understand why people would find it annoying. However, there are archetypes of Survivor fans. When you have teen girls (or boys) who send death threats and racist comments towards people like Abi-Maria because they vote out 'godly' players like Joe, saying that 'edgic stans' (which aren't really even a thing) are the worst part of the community is a bit harsh and offensive imo.

A lot of people who use edgic do think it's usually accurate though and it clearly was here so really, it is kind of a spoiler? And I just don't want to see it. Like, live and let live and if that's how people wish to view the show that's their prerogative (even though that and actual spoilers I find so baffling and show-ruining), but it doesn't mean I want to see it, especially if it turns out to be correct. I make a point of avoiding spoilers themselves so this really should be the same thing, but I can't because it's everywhere, even in regular discussion threads. It's not very fair on those who just wish to watch the season and enjoy the journey.

If the only reason the editors started giving Michele any airtime was because she ended up winning and they had no other choice, that tells you all you need to know about how entertaining and essential a character to the season she was.

Like yeah Jason and Scot are repugnant but let's be real their storyline and eventual demise (along with the incredible blindside) is just one of the many things that made this season so great to watch. Michele on the other hand was totally irrelevant most of the time

Edgic is only ever other people's perception based on editing, so to say that it's a spoiler is a little bit silly. Forums have always been far more analytical than casual fans, and what you describe is what a casual viewer is. Maybe it would be best to watch it without interacting with other people on here. I know that comes across really rude, but like other people have said; it's not our fault the editing has become so predictable. Because they are? Fans of Will, Scot, Jason etc are not, they exist for one season unless they play again. Saying something like 'fans of the attractive men', 'fans of the douche guys', 'racist/homophobic fans' would make more sense because these archetypes also exist every season. I don't consider fans of specific players to be part of what I term 'community', when I say 'community' I mean sections of it that always exist like the casuals, cat ladies, tweens, superfans etc etc. Besides, I've already said my comment wasn't supposed to be taken literally so I'm not sure why this discussion is continuing tbh

But it is, especially if its proponents claim it's so accurate - that makes it a spoiler, if not certainly on the borderline. Of course forums are more analytical but to the extent of decoding the edit to work out who wins? That's far more niche, just like those who wish to read actual spoilers are. Maybe the best compromise would either be just to keep in depth discussion of the edit to the spoiler thread or create one for it? That way everyone is happy

I think it all comes back to editing. Aubry was edited as an all-star to root for so people were going to be unhappy regardless. I don't think it makes Michele 'dull' though. She owned the finale and deserved her win, but that's obviously what I think.
