Worse than the ordinary miserable childhood is the miserable Irish childhood, and worse yet is the miserable Irish Catholic childhood.

Have you read Angela's Ashes? It's a lot different to the film. I've heard he was accused of fabricating it. I don't think he did but there is lots of detail in the book from when he was like 5-12.

No I never read the book, it was years ago that I saw the film as well
