Hmmm dome's arrival brilliantly done... But they really better stop with the duh duh duh duh chords every time anyone says anything significant and start painting the characters in 3dimensions. Has potential but shaky start.

Some of the dramas that have been coming out of the states lately have raised the bar and this one just feels very flimsy in comparison. Story seems excellent, but tge script is creaky - far too much early exposition to try and crowbar in character and too full of cliches.

Getting better. Characters are starting to take shape a little. Still wish they'd knock it off with tension music. Trust the audience to see the horror of it without ramming it down our throats.

Im loving it so far i think theres a torrent on PB with the first 8 episodes.
The style of it reminds me of lost somehow i dont know if some of the same people are involved in making it or not.

Does it get less creaky after episode one? I liked the story and some of the characters were starting to get intriguing, but the writing in that first ep was painful... as was some of the direction.

Like, for instance, when the cop was standing at the edge of the dome, looking out at all the activity on the other side, she was clearly freaked out by the silence. But instead ofletting us hear some of that silence, the disconnect between what she was seeing and what she was hearing, they slammed a bunch of tension music over it.

And because they are coming into the story at a particular point, and the book has presumably taken time to build some characters and relationships by then, they try and verbalise every character relationship and backstory. Like whne the journalist comes into the hospital asking after Dr whateverhisnamewas and the nurse in response says 'your husband blah blah'. So unrealistic. Really jolted me out of the story.

People were talking like tv characters, rather than like actual people. I'm used to better than that these days!

Anyways...still liked the story, and am intrigued by some of the characters. And the dome itself was ****ing awesome when it arrived. I just hope the writing (and music) settles down a bit.
