I can't see anyone working in poland for their minimum wage when our is not considered a ' living' wage, the days of 'auf weidersein pet' are over.
I wasn't only our economy that collapsed, they work here, save as much as they can return home to spread the wealth.

Auf Wiedersehen Pet was set in Germany, wasn't it?
I think it's strange that people from Poland seem to struggle through on a wage not considered a "living wage" by people who have no job at all and get paid by the state. |

I was not referring to you personally. You overestimate my interest in you. Anything I have said has been 100% referencing the topic. I'm sure if you really thought I was was referencing you personally you'd have been all over the report button by now. |

It is so nice to be back MTVN, hope you are well.
My analogy was apt, it highlights the movement of skilled and semi-skilled workers across europe.

Immigrants in some people's eyes can't do right for doing wrong if they are working they are taking jobs from British Citizens, if out of work they are sponging off the state even if they are genuinely seeking asylum. It's a no win situation. Obviously there are some that abuse the system, but that is down to sucessive governments not closing that loophole.

Yes,I would be one of the first to say that Labour as a Govt in their 13 years of power should have done a great deal more on this issue, just as the Conservatives before them should have too with their massive 18 years of power. It won't happen but I am so sick of all parties making immigration a political football while dealing with people lives and rights like this issue does, that for me it should be something that has consensus from the whole spectrum of politics not a narrow section of it. This Govt really hasn't got to grips with the issue as yet,in fact all this Govt can do is set out to demonise the groups of people they find a nuisance and a perceived burden. Often,in my opinion, very wrongly and vastly overstating the problems caused by them too. Last edited by joeysteele; 13-05-2013 at 09:23 PM. |

All for foreign workers I know are very very hard workers. when people say 'foreign people are taking all the good jobs!!!!11' i want to punch them because no, they aren't. They take the jobs that no one wants and are willing to work for any amount of money.
theres a polish woman I know who does what i do (40 hours in 5 days) goes to college to learn english, has italian lessons (her boyfriend is italian and she wants to teach her children it) and has a bar job too.
