Neither really. He's doing incredibly well reading lips and the housemates don't even realize it because he is so good. But of course he'll suffer in group settings. However, it was not heart breaking nor begging for the sympathy vote either. I liked his honesty on the situation and I don't think he's the kind to go for the sympathy vote.

Right from the start though with no need for acting at all Callum has been close to Sam.
this friendship hasn't just started now it virtually did from their first few days in the house.

Callum wasn't up the first week he had no need to act with anyone at that time but he has always looked out for and more importantly too looked up to Sam.
He has turned to Sam with his problems in the house just as Sam has to him with his.
You say he is a predator now though, sorry we are clearly watching different shows.

He has a strong attraction to one female in the house that he has been a bit over the top on, he has although too a wind up merchant in Dexter getting at him at every opportunity as to that and other things, even in this task yesterday.

Who has he preyed on though really, no one I can see, and if Charlie stopped giving so many mixed signals and letting him massage her head all the time maybe he would be able to get on and have more fun in the house.

I wonder in fact who is really preying on who.

Poor Sam. No wonder we hardly see him in the group.

Oh right Sam, yes nice guy, but we shouldn't patronise him, he went in there knowing exactly what it would be like or at least he should have done, he is 24 not 17.

I don't see any heartlessness on this thread, you want to hand 100,000 to some young lad who is is full health, good looking, and got a lot going for him because he happens to be partially deaf? I don't think people are because we are not defining him by his deafness.

Yes and like he said he's strong and is his own person. He doesn't want to be patronised.

no one liked him in there so he attached himself to sam intially to bitch about others. as sam was the only one who would listen .im sure he likes him thats not the point.
the point is in that session he was acting for the cams and milking the situation which is wrong and was basically using sam for his own gains.
no one in real life acts that way he even talked to the cams. they said the same thing on bbots last night. so not just me who see's it.
its wrong. regardless if they genuine friends or not.

as far charlie he wanted a showmance there it didnt work out its all about ego. notice he didnt go for hazel but went for charlie whos is a bit dim

I loved it when Charlie tried to talk about the showmance and Dexter just walked away. Finally he gets it that he's being used.

Sorry if I misinterpreted your post but it annoys me that people are looking at his disability rather than his ability.

Was I imagining it, or at the end of Callum's interview with Sam, did he shake his head, say 'so sad' to himself (to the cameras) and then start wiping non-existant tears from his eyes? When Sam gets to watch this back, how is he going to feel seeing Callum being so theatrically patronising. It turned my stomach. No-one wants to be pitied!!!!!

I don't think Sam will look it as being pitied more likely to realise Callum was moved by Sam opening up like that.

The best thing I have seen this series, totally genuine from both and there is clearly a lot of trust and real friendship there too.
It really made me think and I got very sentimental as to it actually.
thank you joey so much i appreciate.

Actually, yes, Sam is likely to only see it as a positive reaction. It is mainly the fact that Callum said 'So sad' out loud unnecessarily, that made my stomach churn.

Cherie I'de rather hand it to him than someone who uses women or situations for their own benefit.

What annoys me is that Sam opened up to his friend and he is being accused of going for the sympathy vote and milking it. Sam has never moaned or even mentioned his difficulties before and look what happens when he does!

He HAS a disability and he or anyone else shouldn't be afraid to mention that fact as if it is something to be ashamed of. That is a separate issue from his ability. Sam is a smart, highly independent, down to earth young man with a good heart and a good sense of humour. But this thread isn't about his merits, it is about him talking about his disability.

Plus the task was in fact a therapy based task to open up about concerns or problems.
I never expected to get such an insight to Sam's problem with the groups talking and not being able to participate because she couldn't make things out clearly.
The task became an even greater success because of Sam feeling able to express himself to Callum knowing he wouldn't be judged or ridiculed by him.

Far better and good to watch than Dexter marching in with the sole purpose of again only winding up Callum rather than go along with the task.

Exactly. I thought the Sam/Callum session was the most touching part of the series so far.
The Dexter/Callum session was one of the worst and most annoying parts imo. I don't particularly like Callum, (though he's growing on me the last few days) but I can't stand the way Dexter goads him. Dexter tries so hard to look cool and a 'man of the world' but it is so obviously an act that it just comes across as laughable and immature.

It must be awfully hard being deaf. There's nothing about your appearance to say that you have any kind of disability, and it makes your speech sound slow... and if you miss chunks of the conversation, people assume it's because you're a bit stupid.

And of course... the are the opinions of the hard-hearted, as we can see on here; who've probably never felt empathy in their life.

Very much this.

Also, the question of this task was is there anything bothering you in the house. All Sam did was answer the question. My daughter and I have been saying from the start that the reason he was being boring was because he must be finding it difficult to understand what's going on. No one takes the time to include him properly in group settings where when everyone is going at the same time he simply wouldn't be able to understand. Good he has been close to Callum because outside go Gina, I haven't seen one other person take the time to really speak to him or even face him when they do so he can read their lips.
