It's funny they get coverage isn't it?
There are 1000s protesting about savage cuts to public services and there's a media blackout on that.

yeah, as I said, media only care about the hits and traffic and they'd get more interest in reporting this and not demonstrations over cuts which are often peaceful demonstrations

I hate the WBC, they deserve literally no response from people. They are just extreme attention seekers and what they do is vile but as hypocritical as it sounds when their head member pops off the mortal coil I hope people treat them and his death with the same contempt they treat innocent strangers.

WBC tweeted its intention at 9 p.m. December 5:

“THANK GOD for Nelson Mandela being dropped into hell! Westboro Baptist Church booking flight to South Africa (not banned) to picket funeral!”

According to the Sandon Chronicle, all roads to Mandela’s Houghton home were closed at 7:30 a.m. on December 6. Police are now barricading the road and are not letting people through.

Many are outraged at the WBC intention to picket Mandela’s funeral. It is unknown whether the WBC will be stopped from picketing the funeral.

The Westboro Baptist Church has tweeted several news agencies in an attempt to get details on the funeral for Mandela so that they can make plans to picket.

Several tweets in response to the WBC suggest that they will not be offered the same protections they receive in the United States if they try to picket

The controversial organisation, which has picketed funerals of US soldiers and other prominent people, tweeted that it will be travelling to South Africa to protest at the struggle icon's funeral.

"THANK GOD for Nelson Mandela being dropped into hell! Westboro Baptist Church booking flight to South Africa (not banned) to picket funeral!" it tweeted.

"'World leaders mourn the death of Nelson Mandela' #Madiba 'Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you!' Jesus Christ at Luke 6:26," it later posted.

However, other Twitter users have hit back at the organisation.

"You are truly lost human beings, you claim 2 b people of god but you couldnt be further from the truth you preach nothing but hate," said user @Tuckthestrutt.

"South Africa will most certainly greet you with more extreme prejudice than authorities allow here in the US. Some may not return," said Twitter user @JimFTFD.

"Disrespectful scumbags. If anyone is going to hell, it's you guys," responded another user, @Hushpigg

Thought about this and cannot realistically think they would be stupid enough to attempt a stunt like this.

Nelson Mandela is so revered in South Africa that if anybody tried to picket his funeral in this disgusting manner with placards saying NM burn in hell, well to be honest they would not last 5 mins and would most like all be dragged into the nearest field stood up covered in tyres and then set on fire.

Come to think of it this would be a fitting end for the members of this sick cult.

So bring it on ... !!!!

They will end up doing their picket at an American church which is celebrating Mandela's life and where they know they will be protected by the American police.

**** sake.. anyone remember that documentary Louis Theroux did where he went to their house for a bit and travelled round with them? it was the most awkwardly funniest thing ever, they kept telling him he was going to Hell every single minute he was there just because he had sex with his wife before they got married.

actually felt sorry for the Kids and Daughters though because they don't really have a say or are educated in anything else apart from their rules and in the end they are just brainwashed.. a good few of the main guy's daughters have ran away though and he has just abandoned them and refuse to even acknowledge that they exist anymore

WBC church should have the right to protest the funeral if they wish, but they really have no idea that they won't be as protected as they are when they picket funerals in the US.

I actually think NM would have been ok with them being there as well. People shouldn't try and shut them down, they should make more people listen to their insane ramblings.

Disagree.. His funeral should be peaceful, and a celebration of what he achieved. They have no right to he anywhere near it.

Absolutely. There will be hundreds of thousands of people there anyway, they won't get anywhere near. They tweeted this knowing that they will be handed a ban in the meantime.

That's ok, and I agree his funeral should and will be a celebration. The problem is that you never win by marginalising these kind of people. Everything they do should be highlighted, and listened to. That's how you stop people in the future acting like complete ******tards. You engage and publicise, never ignore.

Yeah, that's fair enough, but I think on this occasion it's wrong to give them a stage.

I do agree with this and I wouldn't want to give them a stage either. But they should still have the right to express their views. However backwardly middle-age and offensive they may be.
