The kid is probably humiliated. and a kid that young doesn't care about his hair, you know it's the parents that wanted to give him a punk rock haircut. selfish parents.

Same, they're making him miss his education over a hair cut which isn't offensive at all. What are they going to do now because hair does not grow back straight away.. it will take time for it go back to normal.

oh. well if the kid really chose the haircut for himself then he should be allowed to wear it. he'll probably want to cut it all off after he gets teased for a few weeks anyway.

I don't think he'd get teased by his friends for that kind of hair style tbh My own son had one similar during the summer. Boys that age who are into soccer look up to soccer players and they all have these type hairstyles

ok lol. well that chubby little kid doesn't look anything like any footballers i've seen, but okay/ should they also be allowed to wear the kit from soccer players instead of the school uniform ? probably not, rules are rules.

My school rules were no less than grade X haircuts (im not too sure which grade is the shortest, im not a boy/butch lesbian) and if you broke those rules, you'd be put in isolation

I feel bad for the kid.
a) probably a ton of ****ty comments on news articles about his appearance b) probably didn't want to be a news story anyway c) it's just a haircut

I was making an analogy about the trainers not about his footwear, schools in England are much stricter about following uniform than in Ireland where they are fairly relaxed. If the parents want him at that school then they follow the rules otherwise take him elsewhere, I think shaving your head and having a strip down the middle constitutes extreme! Quote:

idgi though because they have rules like this at my school, and they say it's because the haircut disrupts your learning (how??) when surely sending someone home is far more disrupting than a haircut.

Haircuts should not be extreme. ‘Steps’, ‘lines’, shaving the sides or all of the head or other variations of these styles are unacceptable in this school. Nothing below a ‘Number 2’ is acceptable for students who prefer this type of short style. ...so it does really break policy rules and I would think that a home/school agreement would have been signed which is what generally happens...ironically though it's excellence is in sports... and football in particular as it has strong links with the Manchester United Foundation with many top footballers spending time there with the children so footballers will be many of their 'hero' figures.../and hairstyle etc...it's actually a good school from reading about it and has made outstanding progress in OFSTED with some record breaking exam results...and in an area of east Manchester where achievement rates are quite low...so maybe why he wanted to go there and why his parents wanted him there..?...../I don't know but the policy was there for them to see... ...what I really don't like with stuff like this is the involvement of the media because that's something that he will get attention for at school and maybe quite negative attention.../why would anyone want that for their child over a haircut and a pair of shoes...

I hate stuff like this. I got warnings at school because my hair was "too curly" despite it being shorter than a lot of other boys in my year. One of my friends got sent home for dying her hair ginger as well.
