Can you imagine doing the black man's cock episode today?

Back then we saw what the writer was saying but today after some Twitter outrage, fear of blame, it would be pulled

As it were

Not really sure about that. The jokes were never about the minorities, but always about the reactions and attitudes of others towards them. Derick would never be made these days, but I think the office will remain timeless.

Derick was only made a few years ago though , what would be seen as offensive today about it ? .

And Afterlife seems to of done well too .

Ricky playing someone with learning difficulties would be problematic.

Hmm but Derek is a likable character . What about Afterlife dealing with death and even suicide . I haven't seen the second series yet .

Oh god that word, where the **** did that spring from all of a sudden too? Did you read about that actress from Killing Eve, is apparently being "cancelled" for possibly dating a republican ****ing hell.

I thought that was more about mocking the person who some might dub as a "Karen" who went blubbing to management, rather than using the black man's willy thing as something we're meant to find funny?

The fact a (not sure if call him black but let's say not white) guy laughed David Brent thought bought him immunity to use a racial stereotype for amusement in the office environment. In fact this was explained to him by his woman boss but it went right over his head

Shows have been cancelled due to the "problematic" views of their creators and/or cast. YA books have been cancelled because people on twitter moan that the character is different race to the author. People get banned from social media for expressing their views.

Is there a description for this apart from cancel culture?

Businesses choosing to no longer work with people is not cancel culture, neither is being banned from social media for breaking their rules, nobody gets banned for an opinion, people get banned for violating the rules they agreed to.

‘Cancel culture’ has been invented by people who aren’t happy with their opinions or their actions being challenged, the people who cry about being ‘cancelled’ have the loudest voices, why? Because they haven’t been cancelled, for most of them it gives them a bigger platform, ironically the loudest anti-‘cancel culture’ voices are the ones now calling to #defundthebbc because they don’t like what’s on there, it’s not a real things, people facing rebuttal or consequences for their actions or words is not a social construct, it’s real life and they just don’t like it.

There's consequences, and then there's consequences.

Count Dankula teaching his dog to lift a paw in the air is dumb and not particularly funny, but it's not arrest-worthy nor is it bad enough to warrant people getting him fired from normal jobs.

But if youtube decided to delete the vid and ban him, that's fine.

maybe younger people could give more feedback to the BBC what they like to see on there to be added

and then BBC can not just ask 75+ audiences for taxes but also younger target audience

more income, they got more money so probably then they can give shows a upgrade like strictly (bit more well known names for today's generation etc)

like that viewer ratings can also climb even more than there already is from 10 million to 15 million viewers for example

bring GBBO back to bbc, would also be a good move i mean i Always liked that on bbc, and even comic, sports relief specials for that had good celeb signings either

i honestly still like BBC myself
