My wife (who is involved in both medical and social research) has a suspicion that this is deliberate a deliberate political move that's actually intended to promote backlash.
Putting the entire moral debate aside the whole thing is a mess in terms of research definitions. What are bodies with vaginas? Are post-op transwomen bodies with vaginas? Are post-op transmen who have had a penis constructed in place of their vagina bodies with vaginas? It's entirely open to interpretation and of course the elephant in the room is that in terms of scientific research, of course, even an aesthetically spot-on post-op vagina is just that ... aesthetically spot on ... they have nothing else in common physiologically. I pointed out that if you want to be accurate and specific - you actually end up with the far more disturbing phrase, "bodies born with vaginas". But anyway, yes, she has a feeling that the backlash is intentional because the discussion needs to be had. All of the bizarre terminology coined to "make people more comfortable" is an absolute disaster in terms of medical research. |

Should we be referring to trans women as bodies with an appendage they want rid of ...just ridiculous at this stage how far the descriptors are going...the bottom line is those transitioning want to be referred to as women ..so why can’t women be called women ![]()

While raising awareness about prostrate cancer, The Lancet did not call men "people with prostrates", or whatever might be the appropriate term. They simply decided to use the word 'men'.

A body sounds like you're dead.
When someone finds a dead person they say "a body has been found" |

Why is it always women though who are the ones reduced to body parts and body functions?
