Putting the entire moral debate aside the whole thing is a mess in terms of research definitions. What are bodies with vaginas? Are post-op transwomen bodies with vaginas? Are post-op transmen who have had a penis constructed in place of their vagina bodies with vaginas? It's entirely open to interpretation and of course the elephant in the room is that in terms of scientific research, of course, even an aesthetically spot-on post-op vagina is just that ... aesthetically spot on ... they have nothing else in common physiologically.
I pointed out that if you want to be accurate and specific - you actually end up with the far more disturbing phrase, "bodies born with vaginas".
But anyway, yes, she has a feeling that the backlash is intentional because the discussion needs to be had. All of the bizarre terminology coined to "make people more comfortable" is an absolute disaster in terms of medical research.
