Still nothing mentioned about trans people specifically…just about building an inclusive, active and equal world through an LGBTQ+ charity who campaigns for men, women and trans people.

Inaccurate thread title. I am thinking:

Young woman criticised for charity drive that aims to make sport a more enjoyable place for men, women and trans people alike.

There is no need to mention LGBTQ at all, just make an announcement that you are collecting for womens sport, why specifically single out LGBTQ, lesbians aren't disadvantaged in womens sport are they?

Jill Scott
Martina Navratilova
Nicola Adams
Half the womens England football and Rugby team say hi

There are more than five gay players in the England Lionesses team, including Rachel Daly, Lauren Hemo, and Jess Carter. The team has a well-balanced mix of players, and while the exact number of LGBTQ+ players is not specified, the representation is notable in women's football.

Sports teams can be an intimidating scenario for many people, but particularly for LGBT people. It's not playing the sport, it's finding the accessibly sport in which you feel safe.
  • Over half of lesbians think sports teams are not very inclusive.
  • Lesbians are more likely than other LGBT+ groups to identify cost as a barrier to joining a team.
  • Only 39% of lesbians are choosing to participate in traditional team sports
  • Bisexual women are more likely than other LGBT+ groups to see self-consciousness, cliquey teams and a lack of time as barriers to team sports.
  • only 38% of bisexual women agree that sport is a very inclusive activity.

There is something major that has been overlooked in all of this - probably because anyone ranting about this has done little to no research before having their opinion - is that while Pride Sports will to an extent be fighting against banning trans women from joining women sports, one of their main aims as a charity is to help help promote and work with teams specifically for trans women (and other LGBT people), as well as all-inclusive teams where members can be gay, lesbian, bi, straight, man, woman or trans. They literally promote and help what all of you ask for: teams for trans people separate to that of women-only teams.

This is an amazing thing for sport and an amazing thing for people who find it difficult to get into sport because they worry their sexuality or gender identity will be a blocker.

To pretend all they do and all that 10 second request for donations is centred around is getting trans women into women's sports team is not just disingenuous, it's a lie. The spin on this story is fake, and it's fuelled by hateful manipulation by the media. Congrats.

Could you link the source because the reality seems to be a bit different from a poll, is it the Pink News?

Dragging it back to the topic in hand once again

Ms Edwards has been public with her opposition to the inclusion of transgender women – biological males – in women’s competitions and changing rooms.

I think the agenda was very clear here

It's results from research done through Pride Sports and Sport England.

After seeing that clip I'll have to agree with you.

You said in the he same post that they want trans women in women's sport? If it was about a separate league for transwomen I wouldn't have an issue at all. I would actively fight alongside the activists actually. It's only when it's womens sports/spaces being invaded that I have an issue.

I said they of course will speak against banning trans women from women's sports but they also help and work with teams that welcome and are created specifically for trans people, or LGBTQ+ people.

They deliver what you ask, yet it's an issue because you fixate on their opinion on one topic.

Hardly deliver what I ask if they fight against female sport being female only?

As I said, if fighting for trans teams etc then great. I don't see why they would fight for both trans teams AND access to female teams tho.

Just stick with the Trans teams idea.

That's a great idea, and TV could pick the competitions up. Let's face facts. Nothing's really ever managed to fill the gaping hole it's a knockout left once it went of air.

And stop living in the past.

People get filled in forbhabing rhe opposing football atrip on, amd would be afraid to wear it walking round certain areas, cause they would be persecuted for it. Just like 2 gays holding hands. Sexuality means **** all to me and just about everyone I know. Stop making it a thing. It's excruciatingly boring these days, and there is certainly nothing special about being persecuted for being this or that. We all experience it, and will continue, from someone, somewhere.

It kind of sticks in one's throat that they're using the story of the first all-woman yacht crew who reached such an achievement, to talk about something that negativity affects women's sports.

So refreshing to see a gay man see the wood from the trees

I thought this was an interesting tweet in relation to some points made in this thread

It’s so weird how they could be mistaken for threatening, misogynistic incels if you
didn’t know they’re the most vulnerable, marginalised group™️ in the world.

Wherever women gather to speak about rights - masked trans activists always turn up to threaten them.🙄
These masked men are carrying a banner calling for the death of TERFs & the death of Australia.🇦🇺
And another banner demanding guns to carry out their threats🚩
