I think Ann is entitled to an opinion and I very much doubt that race is in any way her motivation for feeling Meghan may prove to be less than perfect. The clip didn't allow for an explanation but I'm sure she would have given a sensible one if it had.

Personally I am not convinced by Meghan either, she seems a bit fake to me and I'm not convinced it will last. My opinion is not race motivated either, I am white, my own future daughter in law is not white and I adore her. So make of that what you wish!

Me too ,you would never see Kate grabbing onto Wills with 2 hands like she does to Harry ,it just seems all fake and something just not right about it to me ,and i love Dianas boys but feel Harry is going to get hurt

Ann does seem to have alot of opinions I dont agree with, old fashioned ones mainly but something I haven't got from her amongst them all is racism, because she's so old fashioned though I'd imagine it's to do with Meghans age, the fact she's divorced, not English etc etc

I agree with Niamh. It's a big change for the royals and that's going to irritate some of the Old Guard. First William marries a commoner, a very rich one but a commoner none the less, and then Harry brings home a mixed race actress! Those boys have done a great job of dragging the monarchy into the 21st Century. And I feel kind of protective of William and Harry. My Mum says she does too. She said she remembers those boys walking behind their mothers coffin and when she saw the handwritten note on the coffin that said "Mummy", she and so many women became silent and distant foster mothers. She's a sentimental old soul, my Mum.

I hear you mum there. I remember that too and feel more empathy towards William and Harry than other members of their family, not being a royalist and all.

Thats how I feel, I remember them both being born and Dianas funeral broke my heart watching them both, and its like a Mums instinct that Meghan is just not right for Harry

That is probably the closet match to Harry now, both in terms of in line to the throne and the fact she was an american actress. So this is a big shake up for the establishment. Ann is probably more comfortable with those times

I think Anne's remarks are not racist but a reference to those courtiers in the Royal Household who can make a new member of the family feel like it is racism.

Can anyone recently remember the Marquis of Baths daughter in law who is of mixed race and her husbands mother mentioned spoiling the bloodline if they had children.

I think racism in the aristocracy is still happening and if it was difficult for Diana to cope with these people whilst being a member of the aristocracy, think how it might be for Meghan.

This is what I think Anne meant.

While the Royals accept Meghan with open arms this does not mean the courtiers, sycophants and toadies will and can cause her no end of hurts.

I do not care for this "What Meghan can bring to the Royals" claptrap. They do not need her, a divorced, older actress of mixed parentage, at all. She has a huge debt to Diana for paving the way as the Royals cannot have another scandal as they only hung on after Charles and Camilla nearly lost all respect for the Royal family and it is only the Queen, William and Kate holding it together.

I noticed that Meghan was using her acting and posing skills when interviewed for the engagement, far too cocky and confident. However, it was different at Christmas when she was quite nervous and she has to know she is a junior member, not the star.

I think this is the trouble Anne meant also.
