We called it chappie (chap door run away)

Oh God I just remembered in the winter, throwing snowballs at the taxis because they would radio all the other taxis and chase us for hours (how dangerous now thinking back)

Hope this works....the hill...the garages...what you can't see is the drop into a two foot space that drops 4 ft behind the garages.....we wised up and built snow hills to stop us from crashing mentally into it..

I do remember Mr Dodd my ex neighbour and schola teacher in primary school arriving one winter with a 39 ft long shiny plastic sack and about 12 of us going from the top with hom at the front....that ended up messy the third time as we all encouraged him to let us go at the most extreme edge of the hill...hee hee. .

Generally would be chucked out first thing on a morning, told to go explore the woods or something (lived next to them) and to come home 'when the streetlights come on' I kind of plan on being like that with the kids when they grow up a bit, to try and get them to actually go outside rather than be constantly in staring at screens.

We used to call that Knock Down Ginger.

The little terraced houses were best because we'd tie their door knockers together and bang on both doors... then watch both houses try to get their doors open shouting I know who you are I'm going to speak to your mother!

LOL.... I have no idea why it was called that. I've heard it called loads of things in different parts of the country. No one's knocking you down, Annie. No one would dare!

And isn't winching, courting or snogging?

Knocky knocky nine doors..we called that

I had the bright idea once of throwing small stones at the doors instead of knocking, as the guy used to answer really fast and caught us before and was a bit scary. So instead of..not knocking on his, I got a handful of stones and flung them at his door, only to put the little window thing through on his porch Was grounded for a month for that

We used to jump into & hide/run in these trenches for a house that was going to get built on my block (it was like a big below ground level maze, pretty deep)

Anything else “dangerous” probably just had to do with jumping fences and off flights of stairs and stuff like that, off the top of my head. Staying out late roaming around as just kids in elementary/primary school as well I guess could be dangerous as a kid

When I was about 11 (could have been younger) my friend's brother had a moped, and he let us drive it round his garden.

I never actually did it on my own - I remember finding the bike heavy to hold up - but my friends who were the same age did.

I remember my parents being concerned about my safety.
