On Flight 93, the last hijacked plane, the passengers were able to find out about the attacks on the twin towers and the Pentagon through the telephones on board and they all banded together to try and overcome the hijackers. Sadly they were never able to regain control of the plane but through their determined effort they managed to prevent the hijackers from reaching their planned destination, the Capitol building in Washington.

So they never actually planned to crash the second plane into the other tower? Is that the white house?

I don't think you hear about this much, but I think its one of the most beautiful things to ever happen. Perhaps beautiful is the wrong word, but the people on board were absolute heroes. I can't imagine how their family feel.

They were true heroes. One of them was Mark Bingham, he was a gay rugby player from California, and his mom started the first ever gay rugby league World Cup in his honour.
So to any homophobe that thinks gay men are weak, Mark stood up to terrorists at 40 thousand feet in the air. SHowed once and for all that gay men are "real" men too!

We don't hear about them much? you must not have watched any of the dozens of documentaries they've been showing. there were dozens of phone calls recorded from them, and interviews with the family members who received those calls. also calls from the flight attendants to the airlines and control towers. There is ALOT of stuff about the people on the planes.

Yeah, routine flights were hijacked with passengers on board. Been a couple of movies made about them too.

The whole thing is surreal, like a movie. Evil Genius who is thousands of miles away plots attacks from the mountains of Afghanistan. Just crazy

At school. My brother was off ill that day so he filled me in on everything when I got home. I just remember every single TV channel had a sky news banner along the bottom. Crazy that it was ten years ago.
