According to The Sun’s Bizarre column, the 10-year-age-gap and Liam’s futile pursuit of a solo career are the main reasons behind the split.

With his child, that's he's responsible for. I doubt Cheryl is short of cash herself

She is with Bear and that house the most and Liam is always away doing his solo stuff, their break up ended on good terms and i’m sure he is fine with her being there, he isn’t going to force them to move straight away and confuse their baby.

I think you'll find in a lot of cases fathers don't even try to get custody

Indeed. If both go for custody, it tends to be joint. but most fathers don't attempt for it, hence mothers getting it usually. Infact, some studies found that when a man does go for custody, he is more likely to get it than a woman!

Also, family courts tend to go on who does the majority of the childcare also. Like, in my case if me and Gavin split up , and we both went for custody, he would 100% get main custody while I got visitation..fairly sure I wouldn't even get joint. As I do next to none of the child stuff due to my illness. I would not even go for custody actually as I would be utterly useless without help.

My daughter is from a previous relationship and her dad never went for custody, tbh he only started wanting to have her more after he met someone else and had more kids so was already "tied" if you know what I mean.

Yeah, we have a similar issue. My stepson..his father never went for custody and ****ed off right after he was born. So Gavin took the father role as he got with his ex around that time and the kid grew up thinking Gavin was his dad, which in all honesty he is, the other guy was just a sperm donor given his behaviour. But all of a sudden now the sperm donor is in a relationship with someone else and has had a child (and actually stuck around! Maybe he learnt something) and he is being a bit of a tit. Keeps sending random solicitors letters saying he will go to court, which is fine, do what he wants. But then, after one letter everything stops for a bit, then in a few months, another random one. Never followed up by any action. I suspect its his new partner saying he should be in the childs life. The kid is ****ing 14 now...

Most common scenario is joint custody. Residence usually goes to the mother but, to be fair, it's very rarely contested... and when it is contested, it'll go to whoever has been the primary carer before separation, unless there are some other circumstances like substance abuse. If the father has been the primary caregiver during the child's life thus far, and contests for them to reside with him, then there's a high chance of that succeeding .

Which is very fair really imo whatever disrupts the kids the least is what should be aimed for

Not always. In most cases. That's because mothers are naturally the primary caregivers and, without long periods of separation, have a stronger bond with the child. It's no wonder most children end up with their mothers, as that is usually the best option for them.

I'm shooketh etc etc...

They guy's poor attempt at being a rap gangster or whatever he believes he is has shown that he still has a long way to go until he can be a grown up. And Cheryl, enough has been said...

Shame about the child though.
