"Did you get her number?"
"*****............"

Meaning yes, its all in the tone.

Thats one way to look at it, another is to say we took the word and made it ours so you cant abuse us with it anymore, something like a "trophy" so to speak.

Why not? I don't see the problem if they are using it in a joking, whimsical way like blacks do. After all, it WAS the blacks who 'brought it back' as it were and made it a cool, visible word to use. Then they get offended when anybody BUT them uses it?

The funny thing is, i do, not often but sometimes. So do my friends, couple of black friends that have a laugh with it instead of calling eachother it and gettng pissed when we say it, they just have a laugh they know there is no hate in it.
