Can Kate be banned from posting in here please. She hasn’t contributed anything to the thread except to bait.

Bite me. You know you're wrong. You've presented it as a fact that it was a homophobe. Nobody else has, we've all said probably or possibly.

Funny how some people think dismissing homophobia makes them look all edgy and contrarian. Wow, so rebellious—rolling your eyes at basic decency and acting like caring about hate is just “virtue signalling.”
Spoiler: it doesn’t make you deep or clever. It just makes you look like you’re desperate to feel superior to people who still have empathy.

You’ve spent most of this thread splitting hairs over whether it was definitely or probably homophobic, as if that technicality somehow matters more than the fact someone still targeted it out of bigotry. It’s just a way to minimise it without having to admit you’re minimising it.

The bench was installed in 2022 to combat loneliness and the rainbow design
was chosen because it was 'cheerful and fun' ![]() |

People can think what they want of me but Glenn is making a mountain out of a molehill. I've agreed that it's extremely likely to have been a homophobic attack, I just take exception to the statement it definitely was. That's why the title is wrong.

Why else would a rainbow bench be vandalised? Seriously, enlighten us. What other brilliant motive could there be for someone so pressed about a few colours they thought were a Pride symbol? You’ve already conceded it was probably homophobia, yet you’re still desperately clinging to a technicality like it magically redeems the whole thing. Spoiler: it doesn’t. Funny how you only seem this invested in nitpicking when it’s me pointing it out. It’s almost like you’re more bothered by who’s saying it than by the actual bigotry itself. Incredibly sad

If you’re as appalled as I am, you might try acting like it instead of spending half the thread arguing over semantics. You don’t have to explain anything to me, but let’s be real—if it didn’t matter who said it, you wouldn’t be this defensive every time I open my mouth.

Oops, I may need to clarify my position more.
I did say in my post we don't know WHO did this. As to the individual or individuals identity we don't. However just about all the rest of my post was indicating this blacking out of the rainbow design of this bench was more than likely done from homophobic thinking and actions. In my view, the weight in favour of that is extremely strong, indeed overwhelming. I say again, WHY would any person or persons even think of blacking out the rainbow design of this bench, never mind actually ending up doing so, UNLESS those doing it ARE homophobic. I can only answer myself one way as to that, which is, because he/she/they ARE. |
